Mrs. Leagh Ramsden

Organization of the Canadian Society:
We are proud to be the first chapter to be formed
on foreign soil. The Chapter has an international flavor, four countries
are represented by its members.
As the only international chapter of The Colonial
Dames 17th Century, the members have worked hard to promote patriotism
and have found ways to support ex-patriots and each other during
their stay in Canada.
Pertinent Facts about the Canadian
Society:
There are several multi-generational families represented.
The current president is in close touch with the American Consulate
and networks current news bulletins to the ex-patriots in the area,
thus maintaining a close link to our home country.
Several members hold offices in other patriotic
organizations i.e. Descendants of the Mayflower, Descendants of
the Indian Wars and Daughters of the American Revolution.
The members work together with the DAR to co-ordinate memorial services
for veterans and to lay a wreath at the Memorial Cenotaph.
One member is a published author. She has written her own family
history and has donated 40 of her books to Genealogical Societies
and Libraries, including the Library of Congress and The Colonial
Dames 17th Century Library.
One member is a member of W.I.M.S.A. (Women in the Military Service)
and worked with Dr. Carl Meninger.
One member is a past national president of the 96th Infantry Division
Auxiliary .
The daughter of one member has recently received a scholarship in
nursing from The Colonial Dames 17th Century.
