Pertinent Facts About the Nebraska
State Society:
The Nebraska Society of the Colonial Dames of the XVII Century functioned as a Society from its beginning in 1950 through May 1, 1971 at which time it divided into two chapters.
Each chapter chose several names for approval of the National Board, and in each instance, the name preferred by each chapter was chosen. The Lincoln Chapter was named the William White Chapter for the ancestor of some of the members of that chapter. The Omaha Chapter was named John Howland Chapter, also named for the ancestor of some of its members. Vera Rasmussen was elected the first president of the John Howland Chapter and Louise Hale was the first president of the William White Chapter. Marjorie Folger had the honor of being the first President of the Nebraska State Society after the division.
